Rat Race

You know my love for you is true

But somehow I can't seem to get through to you

Don't want to be the last one on your list

If I cannot have you all

I'd rather give you a miss

Don't want to pine for a little affection

Yes my life revolves around you

And that is no deception

But there seems to be a little contradiction

If I read between the lines

And when your thoughts I scan

I see that I am your back-up plan

It hurts my ego weakens my pride

And overall I am in constant turmoil

If this is a game I refuse to compete

If this is a debate I'd rather not speak

Dont get me wrong I am not meek

This is not the truth I seek

My devotion for you is not transaction based

I am just very tired of this chase

Dont want to be a part of this rat race

Just want to get out of this maze

Its true that matters of the heart cannot be engineered

If it makes you happy I shall disappear

Its not my intention to make you feel guilty

You are a magnificent eagle and you should soar free
